Security Council resolution calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, the U.S. Senate on Wednesday rejected three resolutions supported by less than two dozen Democratic senators that sought to block the sale of U.S. tank rounds, bomb kits and other lethal weapons to Israel. _HuffPost_ correspondent Akbar Shahid Ahmed reveals that the White House lobbied against the Senate resolutions and suggested that lawmakers who support blocking arms sales to Israel were aiding Hamas. In the face of such stringent opposition from Democratic leadership, even partial support from party members is "historic and symbolic." As the Biden administration continues "working hand in glove" to provide weapons and rhetorical cover for Israel's genocidal war, says Ahmed, such willingness to buck the status quo proves dissatisfaction with the U.S.'s role is "not going away."
