#ukraine #russia The Ukrainian military has conducted its first known strike on Russian territory utilizing U.S.-supplied ATACMS also called Army Tactical Missile Systems ballistic missiles. According to the Russians, the Ukrainians launched at least 5 to 6 ATACMS Missiles. But the Russian air defense systems took down Five missiles and while one damaged, with its fragments causing a fire at a military facility in the region. While from Ukraine’s military earlier confirmed that it had struck an ammunition warehouse in the Russian region of Bryansk, It said the attack, on a depot is near the town of Karachev, caused 12 secondary explosions. Kara Chev, positioned approximately 130 kilometers which is around 80 miles from the Ukrainian border, is of strategic importance due to its proximity to key Russian military assets. Specifically, the area lies near the 67th arsenal of Russia's Main Missile and Artillery Directorate, a critical hub for the storage and management of military equipment and supplies. This strike has a consequence where Putin approved changes to Russia’s nuclear doctrine, setting out new conditions under which the country would consider using its arsenal. It now says an attack from a non-nuclear state, if backed by a nuclear power, will be treated as a joint assault on Russia.
