Mexican authorities evacuated the La Yerbabuena, La Becerrera and Juan Barragán communities in Colima and Jalisco on Sunday, October 2, due to the eruptions at the Volcán de Colima. Officials deemed the area around seven miles (12 km) from Colima and around five miles (7.5 km) from Jalisco unsafe.
National Coordinator of Civil Protection, Luis Felipe Puente, was in Colima on Sunday to assess volcanic activity. This video shows an eruption at the volcano on Sunday.
