Nine fissure eruptions were reported at Leilani Estates, near Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano, late on Sunday, May 6, two days after a magnitude-6.9 earthquake hit the area.

This footage shows fissure fountains as they erupt at Leilani Estates, in the district of Puna.

Some 1,800 residents in the local communities of Leilani Estate and Lanipuna Gardens were under an evacuation order. At least 26 homes had been destroyed by Sunday evening, the Star Advertiser said. Credit: Demian Barrios via Storyful
